Who we are
At Pawleys Island Guide Service and Hokumpoke, we are passionate about sharing the natural beauty, traditions, and outdoor lifestyle of the South Carolina Lowcountry. Led by Captain Kevin “Stump” Grant, our mission goes beyond simply providing fishing charters and eco tours—we aim to create meaningful experiences that connect people to the water, wildlife, and each other.
From guided fishing charters and scenic eco tours along the Waccamaw, Black, and Pee Dee Rivers, to raising quality French Brittany Spaniels through Hokumpoke, everything we do is rooted in a deep appreciation for nature and a respect for the outdoors.
Whether you’re joining us on the water or welcoming one of our dogs into your home, we are committed to offering authentic, memorable experiences built on knowledge, care, and a true love for the Lowcountry way of life.
Client Reviews
“Stump “stub” was the absolute best!! We came from NH and had no idea what to expect! We caught Red drum, a shark, we saw dolphins and alligators. It was more than we could have asked for!!! We miss most definitely be back!!”

“To start, Captain Kevin was extremely knowledgeable when it came to the waters. We didn’t have the best weather conditions he put us on fish regardless and we made it happen. Amazing time out on the water Highly Recommend!!! He took care of us, what looked like a high chance of us not catching anything due to the 20 mph winds and water conditions we ended up slamming 15+ fish!!! If you enjoy some history and learning new things Captain can tell you practically any of the history around the island. Hands down the most fun I’ve had fishing in a long time!!”
